Profile GachaMake yourself into a collectible card with pixelated photo, draw others' cards from the pool
Live Demo
Why I Started ThisProfile Gacha is inspired by a real story in Kawara, Fukuoka, Japan, where they created a special gacha with local middle-aged men's real photos and bios. The goal was facilitating cross-generational interactions and strengthening community bonds. This idea is similar to one of my core interests: connecting people via everyone's life moments. So I thought, what if everyone could be the gacha? People contribute themselves to the pool and also draw others' cards.
What Surprised MeWhile building the profile card editor, there was an issue: what if users didn't want to share their real picture? So I came up with a pixelated version solution. This way, Profile Gacha keeps reality (real photo with pixelation) while adding fun factors. People really liked the pixelated style of themselves and enjoyed creating their profile cards. Also, asking one random question from a predefined pool creates fun profile info that focuses on life moments rather than appearance.
What This Opens UpIf I revisit this project in the future, I'd like to make it a mobile app and add real social features like chat or card exchange. How can gamification enhance authentic connection without becoming addictive?
